The Property
The property measures 668 feet from the road to the tip of the beach, with 400 feet of waterfront. The cottage is close to the road, which is only used by local residents. The land gradually drops down to the water, with one short set of stairs, and a few rock stepping stones to guide the way down. Partway along the path out to the beach is a short, sturdy bridge that crosses a stream, as well as an outhouse, a couple of sheds, and right out at the beach is the bunkie.
Most of the 400 feet of waterfront is left in its natural state. For active play, there are large, mown grassy sections both close to the cottage and down close to the beach.
Our beach is approximately 40 feet long, with beautiful sand that stretches out at least 15 feet into the lake. The entire beach seems to continue into the water, with only a very gradual slope. Our land comes to a point at the end of the beach, and on the other side of the point is a public beach that is used mostly by local residents. Even at long weekends, our beach is still private, as it faces into our bay area rather than the larger lake, as the public beach does. As well, there is a long line of large conifers to block views, and the public beach closes around sundown.
